The Swan River Trust was established in 1989 and constituted under the Swan River Trust Act 1988. In September 2007 the Swan and Canning Rivers Management Act 2006 and associated legislation came into effect, replacing the previous Act. It is a State Government agency responsible to the Minister for Environment.
